Farmers’ Integration in Agriculture Value Chains and the Role for Food Insecurity
In Tanzania, 80% of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihood. Small-scale farmers with surpluses need the ability to access markets in order to increase their income and hence food security (WB 2008). The objective is to explore the livelihood strategies of small-scale farmers based on their vertical and horizontal market integration and assess the
impact on food insecurity and welfare status in rural Tanzania.
